Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia 17 Princes Gate Knigtsbridge London SW7 1PZ
11.07.2020.
An Open Letter
Dear Sir/Madam
The Church of Haile Selassie I, writes to inform you of the reason for the demonstration today (11.07.2020.), across the road, outside the Ethiopian Embassy.
It is regarding the current lawless and aggressive behaviour of the renegade Oromos, in Ethiopia, which we have witnessed extended to here, in London. The breaking down and destruction of the statue of Ras Makonnen and also the destruction of the ‘bust’ of Emperor Haile Selassie 1st. This is a gross violation of Rastafarians’ and Ethiopians’ heritage. I must say that, not all Oromo are in support of these atrocities.
It is the perpetrators that influence acts of evil and motivate others to carry out these abhorrent actions that must be brought to justice.
The acts of violation, arson and illegal destruction of properties and buildings; including schools, hospitals, churches and people’s homes. This has all been witnessed by the Abiy Ahmed administration who have turned a blind eye, to the injustices that are suffered by the people.
Oh, Abiy administration: Hear the voice of the I Am, the all-seeing God. It is a circle; what you give out today will come back to your tomorrow.
Please cease from promoting disunity amongst Ethiopians, Christians, Muslims, Rastafarians and those of other faiths because we are all ‘One People’. We believe in the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of man and this is why we stood together in the battle of Adowa; against the 1935-41 invasion of Italy. ‘Ethiopia stretches out her hand to God’.
Our Oromo brothers fought side by side with Menelik II and Ras Makonnen. The Oromos were also there with Emperor Haile Selassie 1st, in the years of battle against fascist occupation.
In 2016, the Church of Haile Selassie I demonstrated outside this said embassy against the killings of Oromos (the highest number) and other ethnic groups, under the previous administration in Ethiopia.
The cries of the victims of Shashamane and the people of the free world, the people that love justice and hate aggression is against the government of Ethiopia.
If the government of Ethiopia, stands by idly, watch this happen and makes no effort to bring the perpetrators to justice, it would appear that they endorse these atrocities.
The Ahmed administration’s urgent and immediate action is required to bring the perpetrators to justice. Failure to do so, will indicate an alliance with the aggressors.
The judgement for a better and united Ethiopia, is today.
It is time for ‘reconciliation and forgiveness’.
I close with Psalm 2:1-12.
I remain.
Fraternally yours,
Brother Leroy Lindsay Abbot Eliah
